Frequently asked questions

What is AdSense? AdSense is a free-of-charge, simple way to earn money by displaying ads next to your online content. With AdSense, you can show relevant and engaging ads to your site visitors and even customize the look and feel of ads to match your site. How does AdSense differ from other ad networks? The AdSense Program differs in that it delivers ads served by Google Ads to your site. Google then pays you for the ads displayed on your site based on user clicks on ads or on ad impressions, depending on the type of ad. AdSense gives you instant and automatic access to a huge source of advertiser demand, which means competition for your ad spaces, more relevant ads, and ads for all your online content. Who decides which ads to show on my site? AdSense uses an ad auction to automatically select the ads that will appear on your pages. The highest paying ads will show on your site. Learn more about the ad auction Can I view the ads on my site? Yes, when you've got your ads up and running, you'll be able to view them on your site. An important thing to remember though, is not to click on your own ads. Clicking your own ads for any reason is not permitted by the AdSense Program policies

How can I make money online with Google?

You can connect a Google AdSense account to your search engine to make money on contextually-relevant ads placed into the search results. Advertisers compete for placement in the search results, and when someone clicks on one of their ads, you can make a portion of the revenue.

We're in the process of creating a new system for publishers seeking to monetize their search engines. To prepare for this change, we’re disabling the current system effective April 2022. This will apply to search engines created in both the Programmable Search Engine control panel and in AdSense . Publishers without existing monetized search engines will be unable to monetize their engines. Ads will continue to show on these engines, but revenue sharing will not be available while we are preparing for the new system to be implemented. In the future, the new system of monetization will be opened up to publishers on an invitation only basis. For publishers that have at least one existing monetized search engine, there will be no change in behavior. These publishers will be able to monetize both existing and newly created engines.
