healthcare job today!

Phone interviews are often the first chance healthcare recruiters and managers have to find out who you are and if you’re a good fit for the company. One call can determine whether they call you in to meet in person or shred your resume and move on to the next candidate. Here are ten sure-fire ways to ensure you don’t get an in-person interview. Don’t take it seriously. Just because this isn't an in-person interview doesn't mean you don’t need to take it seriously. If you act like it’s no big deal, the recruiter will not be impressed. Don’t do your homework. Going into the call not knowing anything about the job, company, or interviewer is a definite way to sink your interview. If you haven’t done your homework how can you speak about your interest in the company and what you have to offer them? Don’t prepare any questions. A candidate with no questions may be viewed either as not caring or thinking he or she knows it all already — neither of which will inspire a call back for an in-person interview. Ask these five questions to impress your interviewer. Take the call in a loud area full of distractions. Taking the call in a coffee shop or while you are driving with lots of loud distractions will draw attention away from you and show you don’t care that much about the position. Start the call with low battery and signal. Dropping the call in the middle of the interview because your phone dies or you lose signal shows a lack of preparation and respect for the person interviewing you. Lay down on the couch while you are on the call. There's such a thing as being too relaxed during a job interview, and it will come across in your voice, because your body language is reflected in your voice. Standing helps convey a confident and caring tone in your voice. Speak in a monotone voice. Nothing tells someone you don’t care, are uninterested, and lack passion more than a monotone voice. Interviewers can tell when someone is really engaged, which is not what a monotone voice communicates. Ramble on about topics. Giving a long-winded answer to short, to-the-point questions can exhaust your interviewer. Unlike an in-person interview where you can see reactions, you can’t see anything on the phone. You have to gauge how long to speak without any visual cues. Answer the question fully, then stop and allow the interviewer to ask follow-up questions if they want. Plan for just the exact amount of time they stated. The worst thing you can do in a phone interview is tell the interviewer you have to go, because you only allowed only so much time for the interview. You could be doing great up to that point then blow the whole interview with that one sentence. Allowing extra time for overage is of primo importance. Don’t have a pen and paper to take notes. Taking a phone interview without properly setting up the area around you for everything you may need could spell disaster for your interview. What if the interviewer mentions something important at the beginning of the call and asks you about it later? If you didn't take notes, will you remember why it’s important and impress them? Probably not.
