Black-owned scheduling platform Calendly has been named one of the world’s top private cloud companies on Forbes’ Cloud 100 list. Calendly is a cloud scheduling company on a mission to revolutionize how the world schedules. Tope Awotona launched the platform in 2013 and it is now worth a staggering $3 billion. The app uses an automated tool to make the process of scheduling easier. Users can sync their calendars with the platform and share a link that will bring people to their Calendly page. People will not be able to see your calendar but can slot a meeting time with you based on your availability. “The idea for the company came from a frustrating experience I had scheduling a meeting – many emails later, we were still no closer to finding a time,” said founder Tope Awotona in an interview with Forbes. “This inspired me to look into the problem of scheduling and why it is so difficult, and out of that investigation came this obsession with solving scheduling. Since then, the product has evolved into more than scheduling into what we call [an] automated immediate life cycle.” A reported 10 million people and 50,000 companies, including Lyft, US Foods, Asana, and Ancestry.com, actively use Calendly’s scheduling services. As the world continues to shift towards more remote and hybrid working styles, the app has already secured its spot as one of the leading platforms in the scheduling market.
