Is high snap score a red flag?

A high Snapchat score shows that someone has spent a lot of time on the app. However, it doesn't necessarily mean that there's anything to worry about. What is this? Although a high Snapchat Score isn't always a red flag, there are other things worth paying attention to.

You can learn a lot about a person from their social media habits. Snapchat is unique because it shows you just how much someone has used their app through their Snap Score. In fact, you’re even able to track how often it’s currently being used by paying attention to how much it increases over time. While some consider this to be invasive, others have used it to determine whether or not someone is worth dating.

In this article, we’ll cover everything that you need to know!

It is simply a measure of how much the app has been used – take that for what you will. It does not take into account how long the person has had their account, whether they’re the ones sending or the ones receiving Snaps, or how many people that they’ve talked to. For all we know, that person could’ve received the bulk of their Snap Score over 5 years ago, and no longer talk to any of the people that they’ve built such a high Snap Score with. Therefore, it isn’t possible to draw any conclusions. While we will go over some major Snapchat red flags later in this article, it’s hard to justify a high Snap Score as a red flag on its own.

Causes Of A High Snap Score

Let’s look at some of the potential causes of a high Snap Score in more detail, which can help give some peace of mind when talking to someone new.

1. Sending Bulk Snaps To A Lot Of People

The Snap Score makes no distinction whether you send 50 Snaps to 1 person, or 1 Snap to 50 people. Therefore, it’s possible that they’ve increased their score quickly by bulk sending the same Snap to a bunch of people at once. Heck, some people deliberately increase their score for fun this way by mass Snapping celebrities!

2. Receiving A Lot Of Snaps From Other People

On the opposite end, it’s possible to build a high Snap Score by receiving a lot of Snaps from other people. This can happen even if they don’t respond to them. Some people just have people on their friends list that likes to send Snaps out to everybody all at once. Personally, I once had someone that would send me at least 10 a day despite the fact that I never responded to them. In fact, this is how some people continuously see their Snap Score go up, despite the fact that they don’t really use the app all that much. Resisting the temptation to open a Snap – even when you know it’s bulk sent out to a bunch of people, can be difficult. Curiosity gets the better of us, and we may open them all anyway.

3. Talking To Friends On The App

Even if someone’s Snap Score is increasing rapidly, it doesn’t necessarily mean they’re cheating or flirting with a bunch of people at once. If you use Snapchat to talk with your friends, your score will go up quickly. Just chatting casually with one person for a while can rack up 100 total Snaps quite quickly (50 sent, 50 received.) Do an average of that every day for a year, and that is 36,500 Snaps – with just one person!

4. Snapstreaks

Snapstreaks are a fun way to connect with people, and once you’ve got one going you don’t want to give it up. It’s not unheard of for people to maintain streaks with dozens of people, even if they have no intention of really becoming that great of friends with them. This is more popular with people still in school, who may maintain streaks with a large number of their classmates. This is not necessarily a red flag or a sign that they are romantically interested in that person.

What Is Considered To Be A High Snap Score For A Girl / Guy?

While there are no exact numbers, most people would agree that a Snap Score over 200,000 shows that the person has used the app a lot – more than the average person. However, because there is no way to tell when a person’s account was created, nor what contributed to their Snap Score, it is impossible to determine whether or not it is a red flag. Even those that have a Snap Score over a million may have acquired it deliberately, going out of their way to increase their Snap Score just for the fun of it. Ultimately, we recommend that you don’t obsess over someone’s Snap Score too much. It ultimately means very little, and if you obsess about it you may push people to try and hide their Snap Score.

Now that we know that a high Snap Score isn’t necessarily a red flag, what ARE some things that you can look out for?

1. Only Snapping You When They Want Something

This is the type of manipulative behavior that you’ll want to cut out of your life completely. Nothing is worse than someone who only reaches out to you when they want something. If someone only bothers to pay any attention to you when they have some sort of ulterior motive (such as hoping you’ll send them inappropriate pictures), this person is best deleted and forgotten.

2. Commenting On Your Location

If someone is commenting on your location and questioning why you are where you are, this should be considered a major red flag. This is a sign that they are likely trying to hide your conversation from someone, potentially a boyfriend or girlfriend. Other than easily sending and receiving pictures, the other primary thing that Snapchat is known for is auto-deleting messages. Hence, it’s a common platform for those cheating on their partners. Of course, in the case of teenagers, the people they could be trying to hide messages from could be invasive parents.

Conclusion

A high Snapchat score shows that someone has spent a lot of time on the app. However, it doesn’t necessarily mean that there’s anything to worry about. I hope that you’ve found this article helpful. If you have any other questions about Snapchat, please ask them using the comment form below.
