Read More »Living in a such as fast-paced and ever-changing world, it’s no wonder that Gen Zers have a tendency to move quickly – and that most definitely extends to the workplace. For example, according to RippleMatch data, most Gen Z candidates expect to be promoted in one year or less (that includes 78.1% of internship candidates and 72.2% of full-time candidates), while just 2% of all candidates expect two and a half years to go without a promotion. But that isn’t a bad sign. This actually shows that, despite a common misconception that Gen Zers are job-hoppers that are always on the hunt for the next best thing, they want to invest in your company. In fact, nearly 60% of entry-level job candidates intend to remain at their first job for 2.5 years or more. They just want to be rewarded for their efforts and painted a clear path for growth. To meet the expectations Gen Zers (and other generations) have toward their careers, employers will have to rise to the challenge to provide competitive benefits, a great company culture, and opportunities for career growth. Companies already doing this will retain their talented employees and reap the benefits in the long run. With over 61 million Gen Zers entering the workplace, it’s important to dispel negative stereotypes that employers hold about the incoming generation and see these stereotypes for what they are – points of view and characteristics that can be valuable assets to the workplace. As Gen Z matures, their strong set of values, mastery of technology, and selective focus will allow them to be dynamic members of today’s workforce.
