Even for people in financial services industry, it is to be more complex than we believe to define the exact duties of an OMS and an EMS and to draw a boundary between them. After all both OMS and EMS allows to place orders and to present their results. To be fair even the distinction between an OMS and an EMS is a recent one. Historically both Order Management and Execution Management functionalities were mostly packed into one single monolithic software called OEMS (Order and Execution Management System). Perhaps it is easier to compare and contrast them if we start with the person who interacts with the product the most. An OMS is typically used by Portfolio Managers ( PMs ) whereas an EMS is used by traders. OMS provides PMs with a high level working view of the portfolio and generates orders from that view. For example a PM may choose to reduce the exposure to IBM in his/her portfolio and may issue instructions to the OMS to reduce the percentage of the IBM stock in the portfolio from 10% to 8%. The OMS will most likely translate that instruction to an exact number of IBM shares to sell and automatically send that information the trader. EMS provides traders with access to real time market data and access to various trading venues. Because of this, speed and efficiency tend to be the key characteristics to look for in an EMS product. In our example when the trader gets the instruction to sell IBM shares he/she will look in to the current prices and available quantities across different trading venues in the EMS and may split the sell orders(slicing) to many individual trade instructions across different trade venues. EMS was originally a sell side tool that was later retooled to solve some of the buy side workflow problems. Feel free to contact us for more information about our services related to :

What are the seven 7 classification of hand tools?

General categories. The American Industrial Hygiene Association gives the following categories of hand tools: wrenches, pliers, cutters, striking tools, struck or hammered tools, screwdrivers, vises, clamps, snips, saws, drills and knives.

en.wikipedia.org - Hand tool - Wikipedia

Tool equipment powered manually

A hand tool is any tool that is powered by hand rather than a motor.[1] Categories of hand tools include wrenches, pliers, cutters, files, striking tools, struck or hammered tools, screwdrivers, vises, clamps, snips, hacksaws, drills, and knives. Outdoor tools such as garden forks, pruning shears, and rakes are additional forms of hand tools. Portable power tools are not hand tools.

History [ edit ]

Hand tools have been used by humans since the Stone Age when stones were used for hammering and cutting. During the Bronze Age tools were made by casting the copper and tin alloys. Bronze tools were sharper and harder than those made of stone. During the Iron Age iron replaced bronze, and tools became even stronger and more durable. The Romans developed tools during this period which are similar to those being produced today. In the period since the industrial revolution, the manufacture of tools has transitioned from being craftsman made to being factory produced.[2]: 2 A large collection of British hand tools dating from 1700 to 1950 is held by St Albans Museums. Most of the tools were collected by Raphael Salaman (1906–1993), who wrote two classic works on the subject: Dictionary of Woodworking Tools[3] and Dictionary of Leather-working Tools.[4] David Russell's vast collection of Western hand tools from the Stone Age to the twentieth century led to the publication of his book Antique Woodworking Tools.[5]
