Social media was initially thought to be a great way for people to keep in touch with each other, but over the years its sinister underbelly was exposed and this resulted in it becoming a source of disorientation and anger rather than communal connectivity. A new study from SimpleTexting sought to be uncover what social media platforms users are least comfortable with, and with all of that having been said and now out of the way it is important to note that Twitter ended up being selected as the most toxic one of all.Around 38.1% of the people that responded to this survey said that Twitter was the app that they felt had the most trolls on it. Facebook missed out on the dubious honor, with a relatively lower 26.9% of respondents saying that this social media platform had a noticeable number of trolls. Reddit came in third, with 14.9% of respondents saying the same about it with all things having been considered and taken into account.Social media in general appears to have become quite a toxic landscape. 60% of people who responded to this survey claimed that they feared about posting certain things because of the fact that this is the sort of thing that could potentially end up drawing the ire of those that hold opposing viewpoints. In spite of the fact that this is the case, about 90% of respondents stated that they saw someone in their network of friends and acquaintances posting something that had a racist slant to it, indicating that only those with radical fringe views are confident enough to say what they really think.84% of respondents also stated that they have seen negative comments about such sensitive topics as gender and sexual orientation. This suggests a bit of a gap between what people are perceiving and what is actually going on. If so much negative content is being spread online, it seems unlikely that a majority of people don’t post things for fear of what others might say to refute them so more studies would need to be done.Read next: Consumers Demand Tech Companies Step Up Their Game And Protect Users’ Information

What are 5 traditional examples of media?

Traditional media include radio, broadcast television, cable and satellite, print, and billboards. These are the forms of advertising that have been around for years, and many have had success with traditional media campaigns. Even within traditional media, however, there is some debate over which form is best.

Relationship between Traditional Media and New Media

In spite of the way it’s often positioned, traditional and new media do not have to go head to head. These mediums can actually be used together to make your advertising campaign stronger than ever. Traditional and new media can complement one another, with each playing a vital role. To help that concept hit home, let’s look at an example. Say, for a moment, that you own a hair salon and are trying to grow your business. Your target demographic is women ages 18+, and you would especially like to reach mothers whose children need a haircut. You are currently using your entire advertising budget on print and radio, and have seen some return on your investment, but would like to see more. One way you could achieve that is to spread out your advertising dollars. Imagine your advertising budget as a pie. Each form of media is one piece of the pie, so right now your pie has two pieces: one for print, and one for radio. What if you cut the pie into six pieces, however, and added in a couple of other forms of media. New media, as we’ll get into a little later, tends to be much more affordable than traditional advertising. You could take some of the radio and print dollars and shift them into targeted mobile ads, sponsored social media posts, and banner ads, and you would exponentially increase your reach.
