What is the smallest social media platform?

UnRepeat uses a semi-sophisticated machine learning algorithm to decide how similar a posted image is to images already captured by other users of the app. If the algorithm decides it's too similar, your images are blurred out and never to be seen by anyone else.

UnRepeat - the world’s smallest social media network

Features:

No Filters

No repetitive images (!)

No more than 67 active users

No activity for 14 days and you’re out

FAQ:

Why should I use UnRepeat?

A number of reasons:

All the “toxic” incentive structure of traditional social media, such as likes and comments, has been replaced by creative exploration. No endless scroll of repetitive images - UnRepeat censors images that the algorithm thinks are too similar to what’s been captured by someone else on the platform.

What do you mean censored?

UnRepeat uses a semi-sophisticated machine learning algorithm to decide how similar a posted image is to images already captured by other users of the app. If the algorithm decides it’s too similar, your images are blurred out and never to be seen by anyone else.

Is there no way to communicate with other participants?

You communicate with others through the images you take. Images that are similar to each other are “chained” together. See for yourself by tapping on an image.

Why do you cap the number of users to 67?

UnRepeat is a self-funded art project without any outside investors, which also means we have to be resourceful. One way to do that is by limiting the number of users to only 67, that way, we won’t exceed the free tier 1GB/daily limit that our server hosts offer. Users receive an alert when the limit is near, reminding them to not post any more photos.

Why do you kick me out if I haven’t been active for 14 days?

What does the app look like?

Is this a real app?

It’s very real; I’ve been working on it for the last three years. However, it’s only available through TestFlight at the moment, so you won’t find it in the App Store yet.

Who can join UnRepeat?

Anyone can join; all you need to do is to take photos with the app.
