In fact, 90 percent of U.S. adults over 65 are on Facebook, as are 65 percent of adults between the ages of 50 and 64.
Although Facebook is hugely popular with adults aged 50 and over, it’s declining in popularity with younger generations . So if you’re target audience falls into the Generation Z category, this is an important consideration when choosing your social media platform.
Facebook typically works best if you’re a B2C business with a target audience between the ages of 25 and 55+. It’s also well suited to these industries: Fashion, Auto, E-commerce, Retail, Entertainment, Real Estate, Marketing, Sports, or Health and Wellness.
While only about 25 percent of U.S. adults are active on Twitter, this platform appeals to far younger audiences than Facebook does. Statistics show that almost 40 percent of Twitter users are between the ages of 18 and 20.
