The average worker in the UK stays in their job for 10.1 years, and in the US, it reduces to just 4.1 years. That doesn’t stop job searchers from wanting to know what careers they should look for that will give them job security to 2025, 2030, and even 2050! To make that search easier, we’ve reviewed what job trend experts believe the future job market will look like. We’ve made a list of a few roles that they believe will be the best jobs of the future, 2025, and beyond! Here are some of what experts think will be the most demanded jobs in the next 10 years.

1. Cybersecurity Engineer

Cybersecurity engineers are responsible for looking after our data and ensuring that the data we give to companies and apps are stored correctly and safely. They design policies to help prevent and defend against phishing, hacking, cyberattacks, etc.

Why is this one of the jobs in demand in 2025 and beyond?

Data protection is a major concern. With businesses having more access to data in the future, protecting that data should be a high priority, and that’s where a Cybersecurity Engineer would come in. It’s possible that companies may prefer to have an on-site cybersecurity engineer to help protect the data they collect and be immediately on hand if a cyberattack targets them. This is also commonly a remote role, especially since technology and tools allow them to be there when needed. Whatever the arrangement, working in cybersecurity is one of the best careers for the future.

2. Artificial Intelligence (AI) Specialist

Did you know that, according to Data Prot, 37% of business use AI?

That’s 37% of businesses across ALL industries – meaning that AI specialists will likely be a job in demand in the future.

The ‘computers’ you play against in video games? AI.

Google Maps? AI.

Amazon Alexa? AI.

Weather App on your phone? AI.

So many apps, websites, and phones nowadays use Artificial Intelligence that this will inevitably be one of the careers of the future. AI specialists can choose many routes to go down, from automation, robotics, computer programming, and app development, to maths, engineering, and technology! Why? Because there’s currently an increase in interest in cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin.

As roles, such as accounting, become less of a necessity when technology adapts, digital currency advisors will be the career of the future. With investors in cryptocurrency needing to learn how to manage their digital wealth, we can expect to see a high demand for this role. If you have a background in accounting and financial management, it might be time to start brushing up on your digital currency knowledge!

4. Wind Turbine Service Technicians

Climate change is, and will continue to be, a major focus. With a push toward greener energy, it’s highly likely that we will see more wind turbines being built across the world. With the building of more wind turbines comes a need for people to keep them in tip-top working condition, meaning service technicians will be needed more than ever!

5. Teachers

Yes, this job is already in high demand, but looking towards the future, this is incredibly likely to increase. Teaching is important, and whilst it’s predicted that the role may involve more technology in the future, it’s still expected that a human being will be needed to continue leading classes. Planning lessons, grading papers, and supporting students are the main things expected from a teacher in the future, as these are the current tasks that technology has, so far, not been able to fully automate. Over the past 2 years, online learning has come more into focus, changing the ways of teaching. From online classrooms to online homework, online teaching means less physical paperwork, decluttering teachers bags, homes, and classrooms!

6. Tradespeople

We know that many trade roles have become automated, like car manufacturing and the packaging of products. However, there are still a number of manual positions where technology is more likely to hinder the industry than improve it. Plumbers, electricians, and carpenters are expected to be in high demand in the future – with an expected growth of 14% for plumbing jobs[1] . There are just some things, like fixing your loo, that can’t or shouldn’t be automated by machines!

7. Sports Therapists

Millennials are more likely to spend time at the gym than they are to go out to nightclubs every chance they get. With an increase in exercise and the possibility of over-exercising, sports therapists are going to become a high-demand job!

8. Hospitality and Catering Staff

The COVID-19 lockdowns meant that people couldn’t go out and mingle. Now that these are over, more and more people are going out for dinner to catch up with friends, heading into town for a few drinks, or hiring venues to throw parties – and what’s needed at a good party? Food and drink! In the future, you can expect to see a higher demand for hospitality and catering staff, from waiters/waitresses and chefs to bar staff, brushing up on these skills will most certainly help you secure a job in the future.
