As an introvert myself, I can tell you we definitely follow a different path than most. Our introspective nature urges us to think and observe much more than speak, and that can be difficult for many extroverts to grasp. Thus, the dating world becomes more difficult to manage. As an introvert, however, you shouldn't feel limited to dating only other introverts. In fact, try not to focus on that. Instead, look for qualities you know will make the relationship sustainable, and keep your connection intact. These are the five crucial qualities an introvert's forever person should have.

1. Someone Who's Patient And Inquisitive

Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Nicole Richardson, tells Elite Daily, It is particularly important that an introvert finds a person who asks them questions in a kind and patient way that will help to draw them out. Introverts will really benefit from a life partner who isn't in a rush to get the information they need. A patient person will allow an introvert to express themselves in a way that's natural to them and allows them to flourish. This way, introverts can be themselves with their partner without fear.

2. Someone Who's OK With Change

As you grow so much closer to your partner, it's sometimes inevitable that you'll change a bit when you're with them. Over time, it may even be possible that with the trust and love of your partner, an introvert will develop some extroverted qualities. An introvert needs a partner who can be flexible with this, and appreciates them at both stages.

3. Someone Who Understands What You Need

Introverts spend a lot of time in their own head, and they would do well with a partner who understands that introverts won't often voice what they're thinking or feeling. Dr. Gary Brown, a Licensed Psychotherapist in Los Angeles who works with singles and couples, says, They need a partner who understands that being an introvert does not mean that they necessarily want to be ignored. Again, introverts tend to be somewhat shy and need connection with their partner. Dr. Brown also reveals that an introvert needs a partner who won't make assumptions. A great forever person for an introverted personality would be someone who will ask before jumping to conclusions.

4. Someone Who's Cool With A Little Silence

Show of hands, introverts: Who else hates small talk? An introvert will value a partner who isn't afraid of silent moments. Totally comfortable with letting moments be introspective, introverts will thrive with a partner who lets them have their moments.

5. Someone Who Respects Their Nature

At times, introverts can be difficult to understand... but so can anyone. Dr. Jennifer B. Rhodes, Licensed Psychologist, Dating Expert and Founder Of Rapport Relationships, says she doesn't think the emphasis should be on intro or extroversion. Instead, she says you should look for a partner who's a match in values.

She tells Elite Daily,

They need to look for a match in values and assess whether someone can respect their emotional needs. Introverts may have a need for more alone time and this needs to be explained so that a more extraverted partner does not take the distance personally.

So, in the end, fellow introverts, it sounds like our forever people are most certainly out there. Work to find someone who listens to you and respects your introspective qualities, and you should land on a great match. How hard can it be?
