Squid Game writer-director Hwang Dong-hyuk has explained why Seong Gi-hun dramatically altered his hair in the finale. As fans of Netflix's latest phenomenon will be aware, Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae) was dealt a devastating blow after managing to make it out of the games alive, as he returned home to discover his poor mother slumped on the floor dead. "I thought players fighting like warriors using the shapes, which form a ring, would demonstrate the irony of it being a children's game, as well as the players' desperation."
