Why is Google so important to people?

Google has a lot more sites in its index. It picks up new sites faster than any other engine, so you are able to search the latest news, latest sites and just loads more sites in general. Technically, you should have a better result if you have more to choose from.

Every time you hear us, or most agencies, talk about search, we are generally referring to Google. People often ask why this is, so we thought we would write a blog to explain why Google is the search engine of choice for both customers and agencies. Firstly, let’s look at why users use Google… I have tried to boil this article down into simple sections, as this topic is a pretty chunky one, to say the least!

1. Speed

Google is generally quicker than the other search engines at bringing back results. It is able to deliver millions of results in 0.19 of a second. This is down to their technical infrastructure, which is much better than the other engines. Google once had a fire at one of their server warehouses and although it destroyed everything hardware-wise, their service wasn’t impacted at all. Nice.

2. Choice

Google has a lot more sites in its index. It picks up new sites faster than any other engine, so you are able to search the latest news, latest sites and just loads more sites in general. Technically, you should have a better result if you have more to choose from.

3. Relevancy

Google’s algorithm is much more sophisticated than the other engines. They should be better at determining which sites are the most relevant and which ones aren’t – especially with continous updates to their algorithm to keep up with ever-evolving digital behaviours. Google have their fingers in many data pies, which the other engines don’t. Subsequently, with more data they can make more informed decisions, somewhat scary when you hear of them being able to know what you are going to type before you do!

4. Branding

You can’t overlook this aspect of Google. They are everywhere! They didn’t do a lot of advertising previously, and they don’t really advertise their search offering currently however they do advertise a lot of their other services which are all “Google” based… so naturally, you hear the name a lot. That said, I am not sure about their company motto “Don’t be evil”, I will discuss this in another post/rant.

And why do agencies like Google?

5. Market share

Well, 86% of the UK population use Google so it certainly makes sense to put your efforts into the dominant company as you are likely to get a better return for your investment of time.

6. Platform and tools

When looking at the advertising section of these engines (Google Ads/Microsoft Advertising (previously Bing Ads)) there is no comparison. Google is years ahead. You can set something up in minutes on Google, and hours/days for the other platforms. Google also provides a good toolset for you to use, which includes Analytics and WebMaster Tools to name a few. They obviously don’t tell you specifics, and leave us to work out how to adapt things accordingly!

7. Support

Well, for us, we’re a Google Premier Partner which means we have access to a whole host of benefits and resources to help our clients and partners. Google’s customer support is out of this world, and who doesn’t like a good experience with customer service?

Why do I avoid intimacy?

Fear of intimacy can also be due to childhood trauma, such as the loss of a parent or abuse. This causes the person to have difficulty trusting others. It could also be because of a personality disorder, such as avoidant personality disorder or schizoid personality disorder.

What is Fear of Intimacy?

Intimacy is complex. It's emotional, the sharing of feelings with each other. It's intellectual, the sharing of ideas and thoughts. It's physical, with not just sexual but also non-sexual contact. And it's experiential, the sharing of activities together. A fear of intimacy is often unconscious and affects a person's ability to form or maintain close relationships. They don't intentionally reject love from another. Instead, they may behave in ways that create stress in a relationship, resulting in an early end, before any deeper intimacy can develop. This affects not just romantic relationships but also friendships and family relationships. This fear can develop for many reasons. But for many people, it may stem from their childhood relationship with caregivers. Babies cry to express their needs, and some caregivers may respond insensitively or may not respond at all. This is the first social attachment that babies have, and it becomes a pattern that they learn from. Over the years, this early attachment develops into the way we understand relationships and affects how we behave in adult relationships. Fear of intimacy can also be due to childhood trauma, such as the loss of a parent or abuse. This causes the person to have difficulty trusting others. It could also be because of a personality disorder, such as avoidant personality disorder or schizoid personality disorder. People with personality disorders have patterns of thinking and behaving that are different from what society expects, which makes it hard for them to form close relationships.
